Amanda and Tyler at The Inn at Millrace Pond

Your Story

Amanda and Tyler first met in 2018 while working at a theme park in Orlando and then started dating in 2019. “We both had similar interests and mutual friends, so it was easy for us to connect,” Amanda explains. “By the end of 2019, we were pretty much inseparable. We love going to theme parks (we live in Orlando!), trying new restaurants and guest-service venues, and watching reality TV together. We have supported each other through some health challenges, which have changed our lives since meeting, and it has only made us stronger and more connected in the end.”

Will You Marry Me?

In 2021, Tyler mentioned to Amanda that he would like a “surprise” 30th birthday party in January of 2022. “If you know Tyler, you know why this is only kind of a weird request,” Amanda says. But Amanda and family planned the surprise 30th at a restaurant PDR, invited their friends, the whole nine yards. Tyler made reservations for the night before for the couple to stay at a hotel on Disney property—Port Orleans—which is technically where they had their first date when we were casually dating. “We went to grab a quick bite at the quick-service restaurant late at night when nothing else was open,” Amanda adds. “That same night, we took a quick walk around the property, stopping at a cute little pavilion.”

On the morning of Tyler’s 30th birthday, the couple woke up at the hotel, ate breakfast at the same quick-service restaurant, and while walking back to the room, decided to stop and take a photo where they had their first date. “The rest is history,” Amanda says. “We got engaged that morning at the little pavilion, our siblings were hiding in bushes to record it, and the whole ‘surprise 30th birthday party’ for him was actually being redecorated as an engagement party for us.”

Details of the Day

On April 19, 2024, Amanda arrived at the Inn at Millrace Pond in the morning for her hair and makeup, and could hear nothing but the birds chirping and the leaves of the trees rustling. “There was truly nothing like being at the inn, so tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the City,” she says. “It felt like a different world for just one day. The perfect wedding setting. We chose rustic, boho décor, florals and colors—lots of touches of oranges and copper to complement the natural beauty of the venue. Because we are from Orlando and love Disney and the theme parks, we worked some subtle Disney magic into our wedding with décor and music.”

The wedding party walked down the aisle to “Can You feel the Love Tonight” and the couple walked back down the aisle after the ceremony to “Happily Ever After”—the best Disney fireworks show soundtrack says Amanda. Since the bride loves Taylor Swift, they also worked in some subtle Swiftie references in their signage.

Their dog was the flower girl and stole the show by stopping and greeting each of their guests as she walked down the aisle. The dance floor was full all night long with people from all over the country coming together to make new friends and celebrate, which is exactly what the couple wanted.

Why Did You Choose The Inn at Millrace Pond?

Amanda and Tyler chose the Inn at Millrace Pond because of its exclusivity and rustic charm. “You get the whole venue to yourself—an inn from the 1700s renovated with so many unique modern touches!” Amanda says.

Favorite Moment

“It’s hard to pick a favorite moment when the whole day feels like a favorite moment in time,” Amanda explains. “But if I had to, I would say my favorite moment was when Tyler and I were at the very end of the line waiting to enter the reception, making jokes and just being ourselves alone for a few minutes out of sight. It was a nice moment for just the two of us.”

Favorite Detail

“We had an amazing deejay, and the party would not have been the same without him!” Amanda says.

Advice for Others

“I am 100% a type-A personality that has to plan everything in advance—I made myself sick for weeks leading up to my wedding thinking about all of the details,” Amanda says. “On the day of my wedding, things went wrong: It rained during the ceremony. Signage didn’t go where I wanted it. People didn’t show up, leaving seats empty. And you know what? On that day…I didn’t care. And you probably won’t either. So, don’t stress yourself out so much about the things out of your control!”

The couple has not gone on a full honeymoon yet. “We did get married out of state, so traveling for the wedding was already a lot. We plan to take a honeymoon early next year!” Amanda explains.
