We started talking and before long exchanged numbers and set a date to meet up. Our first meeting was at Dunkin Donuts on New Year’s Eve afternoon 2021. We ended up talking for three hours before reluctantly parting because the store was closing. I remember hoping he had as good a time as I had, and sure enough, after I got home, I received a phone call asking me out that Sunday to go see the movie West Side Story.Will You Marry Me?We got engaged on June 9, 2023, at Donaldson Farms in Hackettstown, NJ. Michael had suggested we both take off a day from work to go strawberry picking. I love strawberries and thought it would be fun and agreed. I honestly did not expect a proposal that day. We’d talked about marriage prior, but I thought maybe in a year or so he would. When he got down on one knee in the strawberry field, I thought he was messing with me. Then when he pulled out the ring, I realized this was real, and was overwhelmed with excitement and happiness as I said yes.Details of the DayWe wanted our wedding theme to be romantic and classic. Old Tappan Manor was the perfect setting for this with its all-over timeless feel, elegant ballroom with gorgeous chandeliers, and beautiful outdoor gazebo. Our colors were dusty blue, red and pink. My bridal bouquet was made up of beautiful red, white and pink roses. The tables had lovely rose centerpieces and mini candles, and there were rose petals running along the aisle for the ceremony. Every detail came out amazing, and we couldn’t have been happier with how the day went.Favorite MomentIt’s so hard to pick a favorite moment of the day, but for me, it would have to be our first dance. Ironically, this was the moment, leading up to, that I was most anxious about. My husband and I are not good dancers, and I worried so much about having all eyes on us as we danced. However, when the moment came, and I heard the beginning of our song “Perfect,” by Ed Sheeran begin to play, all my anxieties went away as I focused on this special moment with my husband. I even considered forgoing the first dance and am so grateful I didn’t.Favorite DetailOur can’t live without detail would have to be the photographer. I’ve always loved pictures. Having something physical that captures a special moment so that I can always remember it is important to me. The pictures Jason captured at the wedding aren’t only beautiful, but tell a story. They capture our wedding so perfectly, and are something we will cherish forever.AdviceMy advice to other couples is don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything I worried about leading up to the wedding worked out. No matter what happens, it is your day and it is going to be special. It is a day you will always remember. Also, don’t be afraid to delegate and ask for help. People want you to have the day you’ve dreamed of and will be happy to help with whatever task you need. Just breathe and enjoy every moment of the day. It goes by so fast.HoneymoonFor our honeymoon, we went to Montego Bay in Jamaica. We’d both never been to Jamaica before, and wanted to go somewhere warm and tropical since it was winter in NJ where we live. We had an amazing time staying at an all-inclusive resort. We went horseback riding in the ocean and zip-lining one day, then spent the rest of our time relaxing on the beach.
