While most bridal shops only carry a handful of plus-size dresses—which run small in the first place—The Curvy Bride offers a welcoming, accommodating and memorable experience. With hundreds of gowns in stock, you'll have your pick of the most beautiful gowns out there, with many varieties to choose from. They also offer private appointment settings with your own personal stylist where you don't have to display to the world like you would at a traditional salon. At The Curvy Bride, you can model only to whomever you'd like.
They carry exclusively sizes 14 - 34 in store, and can customize larger sizing if needed. They can also special order for brides from size 2 and up (and can always clip you in if the dress is too big!).
Designers include Allure Bridals, Eddy K, Essense of Australia, Stella York, Maggie Sottero, Rebecca Ingram and more. They also frequently host trunk shows where you can see a designer's entire line, receive a discount and potentially make custom changes to your gown.

The idea of The Curvy Bride was born when owner Michelle Files was shopping for a gown for her own wedding in 2011. She was so excited to go wedding dress shopping with her mom and sister, several bridesmaids, and her fiancé's mom and sisters. They had planned on going to a local bridal shop where she could try on dresses and display how gorgeous they were to her entourage, followed by an afternoon lunch. What she didn't realize was that the local shop didn't carry anything larger than a few size 16s. Being a street size 16/18, she was embarrassed that she couldn't even try on one dress. They hurried to the "chain" bridal store, where they in fact had a larger selection of plus sizes (which she had to try on next to significantly slimmer brides out in the open to add to her dismay), but nothing like the quality and material of those in the boutiques. In the end, she wound up at yet another local bridal shop by herself a few weeks later, essentially pulling a dress on and holding it up, unable to see what it would really look like on her until it came in. That's when she realized there's a real need for a boutique that caters to the plus-size woman with private appointment settings where you don't have to display to the world.
