About Riverview Barn

Amidst the rolling hills of Sussex County, NJ, alongside the Wallkill River, sits a rustic 100-acre horse farm just waiting to accommodate your dream-come-true celebration. Distant mountain views provide a pastoral backdrop accentuating the natural beauty of this one-of-a-kind setting for your special day.

In all its splendor, the original barn has been repurposed as the perfect stage for your event. A beautiful combination of old and new, rustic and sophisticated, both inside and out. Exposed wooden beams, high ceilings, walls and trim created from the original wood of the barn horse stalls, and horseshoes abound. There are two original wrought-iron grand chandeliers and a unique, family-designed lighting structure made from repurposed barn wood, which shines above the dance floor. Original sconces combine with hi-tech floor lighting to lend an aura of casual elegance. On-site bridal suite and groom's room are also available. You even have the option of arriving by a horse-drawn carriage. Outside, the babbling Wallkill River, a gentle song of a nearby bird and the distant whinny of a mare could become the background for your festivities.

With its barns, river, bridges, meadows, riding arena and majestic walkway leading to a vibrant water fountain, the farm provides many unique backgrounds for your photos. There are multiple options for an open-air ceremony, and your expertly organized reception with dancing will be held inside the charmingly renovated barn. They accommodate one intimate event per day anytime from May through October.

Meet the Team

Ian and Theresa Sherwood at Riverview Barn in Sussex County, NJ

Ian and Theresa Sherwood

Ian and Theresa Sherwood's 100-acre facility in Sussex County started as a mid-century dairy farm. It then became a horse training and breeding facility, home to renowned standard-bred racehorses. In the early 2000s, the farm morphed into a horse-boarding facility where the Sherwoods boarded their horses. Their engagement photos were captured in the paddocks, on the bridges, and with the horses, and they began to feel very much at home. In 2010 they bought the property and continued as an active horse boarding and training business, along with home for their beloved rescues, including a mini horse, mini donkeys and ponies. After conducting equestrian riding events, horse shows, fundraisers and many family parties throughout the years, they started to receive multiple requests to host weddings and special events on the farm. They then transformed one of the stables into the ideal event venue, the perfect stage for your wedding.
