Their Story
Carson and Nicholas first met while working in entertainment for Six Flags Great Adventure during Fright Fest season in 2016. “I remember the first time we were paired together during one of the morning events,” Carson says. “He was driving me through the back side of the park playing country music and I had asked him if he was only playing country music because I was from Texas! He ended up just laughing letting me know he actually liked country music, too. We were paired close together throughout the rest of the season and would message each other back and forth until one day he invited me down to visit him at college, and I kind of just never left!”

Will You Marry Me?
The couple went on a family vacation with Nicholas’s entire immediate family in November of 2022 to Disney World. “I kinda knew it was coming, but I just wasn’t sure when,” Carson explains. “On our first day, we went to Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios and took pictures in front of the Millennium Falcon because I’m a big Star Wars fan. We’ve taken photos here before so I figured we were going to do this then get on some rides—but then everyone else started taking their phones out and I knew it was coming in that moment.”
It was then that Nicholas got down on his knee and proposed. Carson doesn’t even remember what he said because she was in such shock! “We ended up getting told by cast members that barely anyone gets engaged here, so we got some vouchers for free goodies!” Carson adds. “I originally thought if it was going to happen this trip that it would be in front of the castle, but he really surprised me still.”

Details of the Day
For their wedding on January 12, 2004, at The Carriage House in Galloway, the couple tried to go for a very rustic feel since Carson is from Texas. They added string lights above the ballroom and had a “naked cake” with baby’s breath as extra detailing. “We did a first look with my father, a first look with the groom, as well as with the groomsmen for a little ‘icing’ moment!” Carson adds.

First Dance
The couple’s first dance song was “Here, Tonight,” by Brett Young. They also did a private last dance in the ballroom to “It’s Been a Long, Long Time,” by Kitty Kallen and Harry James. “I surprised my mom with a dance to ‘You’ll Be In My Heart,’ by Phil Collins, because that was always our song to sing in the car when I was a child,” Carson adds.

Favorite Moment
“My husband is a police officer in Washington, DC, so my favorite moment was during the First Look with Nicholas,” Carson says. “I also had a patch sewn into the underside of my dress to surprise him with that had the words ‘He’s my something blue’ with his badge number underneath.”

Favorite Detail
The couple’s favorite detail was adding string lights from Earls Girls to their reception area to give it more of a rustic feel that Carson was dreaming of.

Why Did You Choose The Carriage House?
Nicholas went to Stockton University, so the couple spent a lot of time in the area because he lived in off-campus housing and it was where they had their first date. “We would drive by this venue all the time and always point out how pretty it is!” Carson explains.

Advice for Others
“My big piece of advice is to do whatever YOU want!” Carson says. “It is your big day and you—hopefully—only get one shot! Never worry about what other people will think if it’s how you want your wedding to go.”

Honeymoon
The couple went on a 12-day Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line, staying in the Haven Suite. “It was my first ever cruise!” Carson says.
