Bride and groom

Sage and Zach at The Farm on Main

Their Story

Sage’s sister-in-law introduced her to Zach because she thought they would hit it off. “She was not wrong,” Sage admits.

Will You Marry Me?

Zach proposed on the beach that Sage had grown up on and been going to for 28 years. “One of my most incredible friends took photos crouched down behind the dunes, seven months pregnant in the rain,” she says. “I’ll never forget that moment or the care that went into it.”

Details of the Day

“Our wedding was already perfect just by having all of our favorite people in our favorite place, Long Beach Island. But taking everyone to The Farm on Main, this little hidden oasis, made it all the more special,” Sage explains. “The day started at my childhood beach house, where the bridal party got ready together. One of my incredibly talented and loving bridesmaids captured the morning on film and Super 8. It is something I’ll never be able to thank her enough for. It was pure magic.”

For her first look, Sage surprised her mom by wearing her wedding dress. “It was such a meaningful moment,” Sage explains. “With the help of The Fath Collective, we spent three months reimagining her long-sleeved, full lace gown. Many tears were shed.”

Sage was lucky to work with one of her dear family friends and one of many beloved beach moms, Rose Covert of Rose Covert Crafts, to create personalized mermaid shell place cards for each guest. “She poured so much care and creativity into every step, and it showed,” Sage says.

“And of course, no wedding with a Pittsburgh groom would be complete without a cookie table,” Sage explains. “It is a tradition I wish every wedding had. Our family and friends, many traveling in from out of town, spent hours, maybe even days or weeks, baking. The spread was incredible. Guests filled boxes to take cookies home, but some of us, myself included, could not resist snacking on them right on the dance floor.”

Why Did You Choose the Farm on Main?

“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience,” Sage explains. “The grounds have all you could need: ample getting-ready space for both the groom and bride, beautifully landscaped lawn for cocktail hour, tons of hidden gems for photographs and peaceful privacy all day long.”

The couple had the pleasure of working with Marcela as their day of coordinator, and they couldn’t have been happier. “She kept our nerves at bay, answered any and all questions thoroughly, and handled our pre-wedding set-up and day-of intricacies with ease,” Sage adds. “Marcela allowed us to be fully present and enjoy the wedding we had spent so long planning. Stephen and Stephanie worked diligently with us to curate the perfect menu, and were extremely courteous and hospitable. We received so many compliments on the venue, food and staff all day and it continues post-wedding! We’re so grateful and thankful to the staff and team at Farm on Main that turned our wedding-day dream into a reality!”

Favorite Moment

“We had so many favorite moments, it is really hard to choose just one,” Sage explains. “One of the most powerful was looking out into the crowd and seeing all of our loved ones connected and present. It was the little moments that stayed with us. My mom catching her breath after seeing my dress. Seeing our friends’ eyes fill with tears and knowing we all felt the same wave of emotion. Hugging family and friends after their speeches. Dancing with all of our favorite people to “Shallow,” feeling surrounded by so much love and support. Later that night, walking home from the Porthole at 3 a.m., we were just overwhelmed with gratitude. So much beauty, so much love. We are incredibly lucky to have the people we do in our lives.”
